It is with profound sadness that the family of Grady Emmett Curl of Martinez, GA announces his passing. Grady entered into rest on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at the age of seventy-five years. Born January 7, 1949, in Sebring, FL he was the only child of Mary Alma and Lonnie Grahl Curl who preceded him in death. He attended both grammar and high school in Sebring, FL and graduated from The University of Florida with a Bachelor of Building Construction in 1971. From a young age Grady loved the outdoors. Growing up and throughout his life he enjoyed and shared his passion for hunting, fishing, golfing, and camping with his family and friends. As a young man he was a lifeguard, participated in football and baseball, drumline and JROTC. Upon graduation from college, he entered the United States Army commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Corps of Engineers, stationed in Hanau, Germany with the 559th Engineering Battalion and had achieved the rank of Captain before he left the armed services in 1977. While overseas serving he met the love of his life and shortly after they married on December 11, 1974, in Copenhagen, Denmark.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Nancy Curl their three children Jon Curl, Kenneth Curl (Jeffrey), and Kathryn Dunstan (Richard) and only adored grandson, Thomas Blanton III, all of the CSRA, and by his niece who he loved as a daughter Michelle Stubbs (David) of Fayetteville, GA.
Grady worked hard to provide for his family and retired in 2018 from US Battery in Evans, GA. He was an amazing man beloved by all who knew him. He was known for his kindness and gentle nature and as a man who gave of himself. It was often remarked by those closest to him that he had the patience of a saint. He shared his joy for life with those around him as a Boy Scouts of America troop leader, a night school machine shop teacher, an umpire for youth baseball, serving with the Knights of Columbus and as a Eucharistic Minister with the Holy Catholic Church. The light he shone on this world has not been extinguished, it continues to shine brightly out of the hearts of those he loved and who loved him.
